COURSE MODULES
This Course Features Five Modules:
Each module takes about one hour of time which includes viewing videos, reading relevant articles, answering questions, contributing to the course and collaborating with other learners.
The Five Modules include:
Module 1: Well-Being Today, Why It Matters and How We’re Doing
We explore the state of employee well-being and examine research on why employee well-being is a business imperative today. We will review the current research linking employee well-being to employee needs and business results. We will introduce the seven pillars of employee well-being including emotional, physical, financial, career, social connectiveness, mental health, and purpose and overlay how new challenges impact these well-being pillars. We will look at practices, policies, culture norms, and technologies in your organization and examine how they either support or hinder a nurturing culture of employee well-being.
Module 2: Purpose, Mental, Emotional, and Social Connection Needed to Thrive
Too many companies focus on what they do and how they do it and forget to communicate the “Why.” We will explore why companies are intentionally focusing on purpose and the link to individual employee well-being. Next, we will discuss the increased investment in mental health and why the projected mental health crisis on the horizon is this an employer issue. We will look at how organizations are using a variety of tools from resilience training to EAPs (that actually get used) to apps and changes in work norms to support employees and their families. We will showcase video case studies of HR Pioneers leading the way in understanding the impact of mental, emotional, and social connection.
Module 3: Physical, Career, and Financial Health to Drive Well-Being
We will look at new ways employers are building their culture and supporting the physical health of their employees amidst a growing mix of workers working from home, at the office, and in hybrid work environments. We will discuss career planning in a VUCA world and why career is a well-being pillar. We will also explore what’s at stake if we don’t address the financial health of employees, an often taboo topic. For if we don’t address the well-being of employees, the cost is lower engagement, lost productivity, and poor performance.
Module 4: Physical and Psychological Safety in Re-Entering the Workplace
The place of work as we remember it will never be the same. Companies are challenged with providing greater physical safety measures, focusing on air quality, cleanliness, and (possibly) vaccine records, for example. But what about the anxiety of stepping into an office? Or the trust and cohesiveness of a hybrid team? We will look beyond the physical safety and discuss how psychological safety is a critical part of the HR agenda today. We will explore how hybrid work environments allow for prioritization of employee well-being and part of the impact on total rewards offering for employees.
Module 5: Creating a Culture of Well-Being
Well-being touches many aspects of the employee’s life and processes, programs, and policies at work. We will look at the important role of employee listening and assessing the changing expectations of your employee population. We will discuss equipping leaders with new skills of empathy, communication, and working through uncomfortable and dynamic situations. Most importantly, we will look at the importance of fostering your own well-being first. At the conclusion of this course, you will build an action plan to take your next step in nurturing your personal well-being and the well-being in your organization.
